The School Board

Governance & Leadership

Community Classical Academy will be governed by a local, nonprofit Board of Directors committed to the school’s mission, academic excellence, and long-term success.

Unlike many charter schools, CCA is not managed by a charter management organization (CMO). Instead, decisions are made locally—by people who are invested in this community and accountable to its families.

What the Board Will Look Like

The CCA Board will include at least 7 members, bringing a mix of experience in:

Education

Business and finance

Community leadership

Parent representation

A minimum of 50% of the board will be elected by parents, ensuring families have a direct voice in school leadership. The remaining members may be appointed to ensure the board has the expertise needed to successfully oversee academics, operations, and finances.

The board is responsible for:

Setting the vision and policies of the school

Hiring and evaluating the principal

Overseeing finances and accountability

Ensuring the school stays true to its mission

Day-to-day operations will be led by the principal and school leadership team.

Board Elections

Board elections will be held every two years, in accordance with South Carolina charter law.

In the first election, some members will serve shorter terms to create a staggered structure

After that, elections will occur on a regular cycle to ensure both continuity and fresh perspectives

Parents of enrolled students and school staff will have the opportunity to vote in board elections

Why This Matters

This structure ensures that CCA remains:

Locally governed—not controlled by outside organizations

Accountable to families—not distant management companies

Built for the long term—with both stability and community input

At CCA, parents don’t just send their children to school—they have a seat at the table.
