Grammar Stage (K–5)

A Proven Classical Approach

CCA uses a curriculum developed in partnership with Hillsdale College, built on decades of success in classical schools across the country.

This model emphasizes:

• Deep knowledge over surface-level learning

• Great books and primary sources over worksheets

• Critical thinking over memorization alone

• Meaningful discussion over passive screen time

Students don’t just learn what to think—they learn how to think well.

What Students Will Learn

Core Subjects:

Literature & Language Arts

Students read classic works, build strong writing skills, and develop a deep understanding of language through grammar, composition, and discussion.

Mathematics

Using a mastery-based approach, students learn not just how to solve problems—but why the math works.

Science

Students explore scientific concepts through hands-on learning, observation, and study of great scientific discoveries.

History & Civics

Taught through primary sources and storytelling, students gain a strong understanding of world history, American history, and the principles of self-government.

The Trivium: How Learning Progresses

Our curriculum follows the classical model of the Trivium, aligning with how children naturally learn:
