Our Curriculum

At Community Classical Academy, we believe education should do more than prepare students for a test—it should prepare them for life.

That’s why our curriculum is built on a classical, content-rich model that develops knowledgeable, thoughtful, and capable students.

Grammar Stage (K–5)

Focus on foundational knowledge—reading, writing, math facts, and core content.

Logic Stage (6–8)

Develop reasoning, analysis, and critical thinking.

Rhetoric Stage (9–12)

Learn to communicate clearly, think independently, and defend ideas with confidence.

A Proven Classical Approach

CCA uses a curriculum developed in partnership with Hillsdale College, built on decades of success in classical schools across the country.

This model emphasizes:

Deep knowledge over surface-level learning

Great books and primary sources over worksheets

Critical thinking over memorization alone

Meaningful discussion over passive screen time

Students don’t just learn what to think—they learn how to think well.

What Students Will Learn

Core Subjects:

Literature & Language Arts

Students read classic works, build strong writing skills, and develop a deep understanding of language through grammar, composition, and discussion.

Mathematics

Using a mastery-based approach, students learn not just how to solve problems—but why the math works.

Science

Students explore scientific concepts through hands-on learning, observation, and study of great scientific discoveries.

History & Civics

Taught through primary sources and storytelling, students gain a strong understanding of world history, American history, and the principles of self-government.

The Trivium: How Learning Progresses

Our curriculum follows the classical model of the Trivium, aligning with how children naturally learn:

Grammar Stage (K–5)
Focus on foundational knowledge—reading, writing, math facts, and core content

Logic Stage (6–8)
Develop reasoning, analysis, and critical thinking

Rhetoric Stage (9–12)
Learn to communicate clearly, think independently, and defend ideas with confidence

A Well-Rounded Education

In addition to core academics, students will study:

Foreign Language (beginning in middle school)

Music and Visual Arts

Physical Education

Moral Philosophy and Civics

This ensures students are not only academically prepared—but also culturally literate and well-rounded.

Character Matters

At CCA, education includes the formation of character.

Students are taught and encouraged to live out timeless virtues such as:

  • Responsibility

  • Courage

  • Integrity

  • Friendship

  • Wisdom

These are not just taught—they are modeled, practiced, and expected.

Limited Technology. Maximum Learning.

We intentionally limit the use of screens in the classroom.

Instead, students engage directly with:

Books

Teachers

Discussion

Writing

Because real learning happens through attention, effort, and human connection—not constant technology.

Designed for Mastery

We believe every student can succeed with the right support.

CCA uses:

  • Regular assessments to track progress

  • Targeted support for students who need it

  • Enrichment opportunities for advanced learners

Our goal is simple: every student grows, and every student is challenged.

The Result

Students at CCA graduate as:

Strong readers and writers

Critical thinkers

Confident communicators

Responsible citizens

Prepared not just for college or a career—but for a meaningful life.
